Rising Above The Flood: Tors at the Brooklyn Paramount
Reviewed for The Concert Chronicles. Original article here.
You don’t often see a packed house for an opening act, but Tors performed to a full crowd at the Brooklyn Paramount on January 22, 2025. From the moment they hit the stage, Tors had the audience hooked with their heartfelt and genuine delivery. It felt like one of those rare moments where an opener doesn’t just warm up the crowd but steals a piece of the show themselves.
But just a couple songs into their set, chaos hit. A pipe burst, flooding the general admission area at stage left and, suddenly, the sound cut out completely. The house lights came up, leaving the band standing in an awkward, silent moment. Lesser bands might have been thrown completely off track—but not Tors. They pivoted without missing a beat, attempting to play acoustically while the Paramount crew sprang into action. The crowd rallied behind them, even as they were ushered off the stage.
The Paramount staff did a hell of a job to stop the leak, clean up, and reset. They turned what could’ve been a disaster into a minor hiccup. When the show finally resumed, Tors picked up right where they left off. It’s not every day you get to see a band turn a challenge into a defining moment, but that’s exactly what Tors did.
Tors may have been the opening act, but they managed to make an impression on a sometimes unforgiving New York crowd. It’s no easy task to win over an audience in this city, but Tors’ resilience and heart turned a chaotic moment into something memorable. The night was ready to move on to Myles Smith’s highly anticipated set. But let’s be honest—Tors made sure they weren’t just a footnote.
