LØLØ at Mercury Lounge: Sold-out, Sweaty, and Scream-worthy
Reviewed for The Concert Chronicles. Original article here.
Heartbreak, but make it loud. That’s the energy LØLØ brought to Mercury Lounge on February 20, turning every breakup, every ghosted text, and every emotionally unavailable ex into fuel for a pop-punk meltdown. It wasn’t just a sold-out show — it was a collective exorcism of bad decisions and worse relationships, set to the soundtrack of her latest album, falling for robots & wishing i was one.
But before LØLØ took the stage, Ella Red set the bar as high as the Manhattan skyline. The twenty-something, alt-pop sensation, best known for her hits “I Like You Best” and “Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is” gave a performance that was a fusion of edgy rock vibes with a touch of fairy-tale mystique — think Paramore meets Red Riding Hood.
By the end of Ella Red’s set, the crowd was buzzing with anticipation, primed for the emotional tornado LØLØ was about to unleash. LØLØ stepped onto the stage like a pop-punk Dorothy on her own twisted yellow brick road—except Dorothy ditched the ruby red slippers for… ruby red hot pants! Yeah, a total vibe!
LØLØ took the Mercury Lounge crowd on a neon-lit rollercoaster through love, loss, and self-destruction. She built the night around her “Wizard of Oz”-inspired heartbreak metaphors, leaning into the idea that maybe the worst part of falling for someone with no heart is realizing you can’t just wish them into loving you. Between songs, LØLØ kept things as real as ever, talking about mental health, breakups, and the absolute mindf*ck of trying to move on.
The @ryanreid.sound Check: LØLØ’s fans connect with her on a deep level, and it’s easy to see why. She’s not just a performer—she’s one of them. And the energy? Relentless. From start to finish, the crowd fed off her every word, giving it back tenfold. A pop-punk therapy session disguised as a concert, this was a sold-out, sweaty, scream-your-heart-out release of everything that’s ever kept you up at night.
